![]() ![]() Good lesson when everything is so disposable these days including music Now you know what happens when you don't look after your things. Yesterday she asked me why there is a repeating crack in the sound. Managing your money: Aside from the record player, she has to use her own birthday money to buy the albums - goodbye money. Respect for knowing how to make money but hopefully she learns not get suckered by marketing. ![]() Note - She didn't buy all 4 but Taylor knows how to milk her fans. So by the time you are done you have spent 300 dollars for what? Being sucked in by marketing: Taylor swift released 4 versions of her latest album on vinyl in 4 colours and if you buy them all, it forms a clock. So now she has the record player (Our gift for 400 bucks) which she plays via a little bluetooth speaker (defeats the purpose as it has to be converted to digital), but what evs (as the cool kids say) and here are the lessons which I'm hoping she will learn: I know record players are cool but they're not that cool unless you are an audiophile with a huge budget.Īnyway, it's her birthday so her choice and I thought if nothing else, we can use this as a teaching moment. I thought this was nuts as why pay 60 to 100 bucks for an album when you can stream anything you want for 20 bucks? My daughter just turned 16 and she wanted a record player. #hayestheatre #musicaltheatre #thearts #australianmade LisaCampbell MEDIA for making us feel welcome. Will Harvey for the opportunity to be involved. Special shout out to Darren Challis for introducing us to Hayes. There are some great shows coming up as you can see on their website. If you don't know what I'm talking about then do yourself a favour and get to a show at the Hayes, because I'm telling you there is no way this thing is going to stay under the radar much longer. I'm truly grateful to the incredible community who help create the magic and that Webcoda can contribute in a small way. I keep waiting for the secret to get out and to a degree it has as most shows these days sell out and are impossible to get tickets to. ![]() On top of that, Hayes also helps promote new Australian works such as the incredible "Dubbo championship wrestling" which - don't be thrown by the title - was hilarious, full of terrific songs and was just a fun night out. With many of the shows I have seen at the Hayes over the years, I literally have to pinch myself that something of such a high standard and so entertaining is presented in an intimate theatre of just over 100 people. I was recently in New York and watched several of the biggest shows on Broadway and I can honestly say that the talent we have here in Australia of not just performers but everyone who works behind the scenes is every bit as good and in my humble opinion may be even better. Having just watched the current production of Gershwin's "Nice work if you can get it", I am once again inspired as I have been so many times after watching shows at the Hayes to tell everyone to get out and support local theatre and arts in general. We have been lucky enough to be part of a new program at the Hayes Theatre called the Chairs circle. So thrilled that our little company, Webcoda has the opportunity to help in an area that I am personally passionate about - the arts. ![]()
